MAUREEN MERCIER

My Body, My Choice, mixed media, 13”x19”, 2021

My Body, My Choice is a visual representation of my thoughts on women's reproduction rights. I believe that everyone should have the right to their own autonomy when it comes to making decisions about their bodies. The right to choose what is best for oneself is at the core of equality, privacy and bodily integrity.

Why Water Street?

I have never felt more validated as an artist that makes art about womanhood as I am with having a piece of my art displayed at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s Water Street Health Center. PPWI represents my moral and ethical beliefs that health care should be accessible for everyone. I am honored to have My Body, My Choice as part of the collection in Milwaukee.
