PPWI is looking for artwork from a broad array of disciplines in a variety of sizes. Both craft and art have a place in the vision for our locations. Most artwork will be wall hanging and easy maintenance is required.

Image File Preparation & Information:

You may submit up to 10 images. Detail images will count towards the total of 10. Do not collage multiple images in a single image file.

How to prepare your image files:

  • All images should be uploaded as JPGs sized at 72 dpi with the longest side at 1400 pixels, 5 MB max for each image.

  • Label the image 01 through 10 in the following way before uploading: “Image_01_FirstName_LastName” (Example: “Image_01_Barbara_Kruger”).

The application form will have fields to fill in:

  • Title

  • Medium

  • Dimensions

  • Year the artwork was created

  • Suggested price

  • A short description of each image

Mural Proposals

Mural Proposals:

Artists applying with a mural proposal need to provide four images of previous mural work and up to three concepts (six images total) to fit the wall ratios below. Actual wall sizes will be provided later in the selection process. Viewing distance and theme suggestions are provided to help with understanding how patients and staff may interact with murals.

  • 2:1 ratio (Horizontal) - Viewing distance 10’

  • 4:1 ratio (Horizontal) - Hallway - Viewing distance 5’

  • 1:3 ratio (Vertical) - Viewing distance 30’

  • 1:1 ratio (Square) - Viewing distance 5’

When submitting, muralists will be asked to describe how their concept relates to any combination of the following themes identified as important by Water Street staff: Forward, Unity, Uplift, Empower, Identity, Destiny, Dream, and Soothe.

As each PPWI location is an active health center, muralists will be creating murals off-site in their own studios or providing digital files for reproduction. Mural production may include painting on wood boards, polytab, or reproduction on vinyl. How a mural is produced is dependent upon the installation wall. This information as well as purchase price will be negotiated with selected muralists upon contract. Reproduction on vinyl and installation of all mural based work will be provided by PPWI.

Image File Preparation & Information:

Muralists may submit up to 10 images. The first four images must show previous murals you have made. The remaining six images should be used to present up to three mural concepts (i.e. two images per concept if providing three concepts). Do not collage multiple images in a single image file.

  • All images should be uploaded as JPGs sized at 72 dpi with the longest side at 1400 pixels, 5 MB max for each image.

  • Label images 1 through 4 demonstrating your previous mural work in the following way before uploading: Portfolio_01_FirstName_LastName (Example: Portfolio_01_Barbara_Kruger).

  • Label images 5 through 10 showing your concept sketches in the following way before uploading: Concept_01_FirstName_LastName_detail_1 (Example: Concept_01_Barbara_Kruger_detail_1).
