A Drink in Pink, spray paint on paper, 9”x12”, 2023

A Drink in Pink was created during my Artist Residency at Villa Terrace Arts Museum. To make this artwork, I experimented with layering flowers from the Villa Terrace Arts Museum’s garden and spray paint to create a dynamic and abstract work that looks solid and liquid simultaneously.

Morning Glory, acrylic on paper, 14”x18”, 2022

Morning Glory was inspired by the deconstruction of both natural and manmade materials (specifically women's handbags, fabrics and clothing). By breaking down these items, and gendered implications of their design, I am creating a world worth waking up in.

Why Water Street?

Throughout the years, I have held unwavering support for Planned Parenthood. In my perspective, PPWI is an indispensable cornerstone in any community. As a woman navigating the complexities of the current political landscape, I see Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin as a beacon of inclusivity and empowerment, fostering an environment where individuals can access the support and information they need with dignity and respect.

More about the artist:

Hailing from the deep South, my first artistic experiences are rooted in nature. From swampland to red clay hills, my toys were moss, flowers, dirt, and berries. During my formative years I moved to the plains of Nebraska, and then to the cliffs of Maine. Each ecosystem was different and deeply inspiring. Enchanted by Milwaukee's beautiful green areas and architecture, I relocated here after living in New York.

Using these imagined landscapes and plants, I create fantastical, bold natural worlds rooted in color theory. Inspired by my time at a fabric and wallpaper company, as well as working with gardening influencers, pattern, color, and plant life are essential in communicating the powerful feelings I want to express. I see my artwork as expansive, as it opens the mind to experience visual emotions.
