CARISSA SOSNOWSKI

Generavity, digital collage printed with archival ink, 20”x20”, 2023

The inspiration for this piece came from thoughts on the history of human rights, climate change, and what it means for long term survival. This work represents my vision that when my generation has passed, there are ensurances of the well-being of younger generations, to be themselves and to thrive.

Just the Way You Are, digital collage printed with archival ink, 16”x24”, 2023

Self-love, and allowing yourself to be loved is what inspired this work. Everyone has a right to live their lives authentically, and to be supported in what that means for them. This piece encapsulates the profoundness of being seen, and seeing others.

Carefree, digital collage, 20”x20”, 2022

Expressing the uncertain sides of yourself, the parts you’re least confident about, and being vulnerable, is the influence of this work. I made this piece when I was 30 days sober. There is a lot of shame when becoming sober. There are many intrusive thoughts about what you did and what you hid. By sharing my experiences, and listening to others’ experiences, I found that I felt lighter, and able to release the old version of myself.

Waiting for the Color to Return, digital collage printed with archival ink, 20”x20”, 2023

A period of depression is the inspiration behind this piece. Going through depression made me feel drained, and unable to enjoy the things I loved. Once I got through that period and was able to create this piece, it did feel like the color returned.
